Thank you for helping Anime in the Park come to life!
Volunteers can help in many different ways. From setup/teardown, to hosting events, and simply walking around checking on people, everyone can play an important role. This guide goes over the most universal aspects. Please read it before starting your shift, and reach out with any questions!
Once you arrive, please find me around the stage are so you can pick up your volunteer badge. Just text me if you can’t find me.
Here’s the basic functions of what Anime in the Park volunteers do:
Encourage Happiness and Health
- Say hi to everyone, especially if they look out of place or lonely
- Encourage people to stay hydrated, remind them to drink water and eat healthy food
Those are really the most important parts.
We’re trying to curate a space where everyone feels invited and welcome. If you see someone wandering around alone, or sitting by themselves, go say hi to them! Let them know you’re glad they are here with us. Ask them how their day is. You never know what people are going through, and sometimes the simple act of conversation can really uplift the spirits.
Remind people to stay hydrated. It’s hot out, and we don’t want anyone getting heat stroke. Remind them to eat quality food and to not skip too many meals.
Show People Around
Let everyone know what kind of stuff they can do at this event.
Lead them to the website for maps and more info: animeinthepark.com
Some of the 4/20 activities/events that you can tell them about are:
- Artist Alley
- Dungeons and Dragons
- Cosplay Showcase
- Bubble Wand
- Ladder Toss or Bean Bag Toss
- Dancing
- Fire Spinning Show
Relay Questions to Me (Daniel)
If someone is asking questions that you don’t know the answer to, help them find me! For the 4/20 event I’ll probably be cosplaying as Inosuke from Demon Slayer. I’ll typically be around the stage area.
See Something, Say Something
If you see anyone being rude, mean, or creepy… let me know. Do not confront anyone directly. Let me or a staff member do that.
Have Fun!
Remember, this isn’t “work.” You are welcome to cosplay during your shift. Have fun with your volunteering, and make the most of the day!
