The April 20 event will not be making a profit. In fact, it’s costing me about $600 out of pocket to run, even after the artist/vendor dues. Some of that goes towards long-term infrastructure, like canopy tents for shade that we can use again, so it’s not all bad. It’s an investment. Some of the costs are direct expenses like renting the Uhaul and portapotties, and paying for advertising. I also spent money on some outdoor games, and lots of miscellaneous things like audio cables, tools, etc. It adds up quickly. These costs do not include the countless hours, nights and weekends, that I’ve spent planning (ok, obsessing over) every little detail.
