The Power of Public Parks

In this modern contraption, we have lost the art of simply existing. We have forgotten how to connect with each other. We stay cooped up inside, stressed out, and worried. We’re glued to our devices, hooked on the news cycles, and craving things that lead to emptiness.

This is a result of our environment. “No loitering” signs are plastered all over businesses, fields of green are filled with concrete, and it feels like stepping outside for even a minute costs money. It’s hard to find peace and just be.

Public parks are one of the last places in our world that we can simply show up to and exist. We can feel like an actual human being. “Use it or lose it” is something we’ve all heard, and there’s a lot of truth to it. If we don’t do our part to treat these parks with reverence, and utilize them in positive ways, then we could risk losing them. In the same light, if we ignore the state of our world and the suffering of those around us, then we are at risk of losing our humanity.

Anime in the Park wears the costume of an anime convention, but its true purpose is to bring people together in a world that has become disconnected and cold. Our mission is to uplift and unite communities, break down stereotypes, and promote physical and mental health through art, music, and cosplay.

We thank everyone who participated in our event last year. We thank the City of Groveland for giving us a chance and letting us utilize the park system. We are honored and excited to announce that Anime in the Park is returning to Lake David Park in 2025. Stay tuned for more details!
